
Born in Africa, Sjoerd Sijsma, grew up between cultures. At the age of eight, he swapped the Grassfield of Cameroon for the Dutch polders, where he studied water management and film. Around the world Sjoerd worked as a water engineer using film as an extension tool. In 2000 he opened his own company “Eyeses” producing engaged films and images. He is working for NGO’s, like MSF, Hivos, NIMD, Oxfam Novib, Companies like Vivare, Haskoning, Celtel/Zain, local and national Governments and Universities. Together with the ASC and the University of Leiden he participates in various anthropological projects. The art/research project on engagers around the world “Voice 4 Thought” will be his next challenge.
